I have a mini dv camcorder and we have taped video on the cassettes. Is there a way that we can take what is stored on the cassettes and put in on disc format? Is there any other way to view the mini cassettes without viewing them through the camera? We know how to connect camcorder to TV to watch what was recorded but how could we view if the camcorder did not work? Thanks!

best way is to convert your tapes to dvd. You have to have capture software and dvd writing software. Windows XP comes with Moviemaker which captures, not sure if it writes. You can get quality capture/edit/write software on ebay for under $20 (Nero 6). If you don’t have a firewire card, you’ll need to buy one (also under $20 on ebay).
The best way is to get a DVD recorder/player that has the DV 4 pin ilink connection. That should be available for under $300. Panasonic and JVC make desktop DV tape players for about $1600 in their professional product line.
